More visits

The day after Thanksgiving Nana and Pop-O joined us for a quick visit. I think the Munchkin is a bit of a flirt. She charmed her way into Pop-O's affection that's for sure!

 Everyone making Munchkin laugh
 KISSES!!
 Love you Nana!

Now that I am 6months and all

The day after Munchkin's birthday we were doing our morning exercises and gave sitting unassisted a shot. She's never been able to stay upright for more than a second or two. This is after she'd been sitting for about 15seconds already!

Later that week we brought out Munchkin's Jenny Jump-up. Think she likes it?

Happy Thanksgiving and 6month birthday!!

Munchkin turned 6 months on Thanksgiving! She started the day watching the parade with her Aunthill and Mister.
Dinner picture. This took a long time to make work.
It is also Munchkin's first time in the highchair. She thought it was ok, but the first time I tried to put the tray on I caught her arm underneath and she did NOT like that.
Munchkin's delicious dinner of homemade sweet potatoes and pumpkin
The Lady's second attempt at pies, and I made the crust. They taste awesome, definitely learned some things I would do differently.
Lol Sweet potatoes make her go cross-eyed. She pretty much fed herself the whole meal, it was thick enough that she grabbed handfuls and shoved them in her mouth.
 mmmmm
That was delis mom! Now I need help cleaning up.
Naturally, we used the Dixie first.
 Then Dash helped.
 One tired 6month old turkey!

Playing Favorites

Tonight the Munchkin likes her Daddy more than me. Don't worry, after a certain amount of crying- I like her Daddy more too. He (jokingly) offered to bring her into the bathroom and dance her over the shower door while I showered. (you're welcome Gramma) I said no thanks.

The Lady

I know this blog is for the Munchkin, but for those of you that understand this calendar I was just so excited when I saw it written down that I had to share. The Munchkin's mommy is 2.5 weeks from being drug free!!!

Happenings

Munchkin helped Mister do the laundry last night. Actually, I think she might be the reason that that LARGE pile of laundry is still there today. :)

We went to Little Gym with our twin friends today. It was actually really fun, I was a little skeptical about what we would do with a group of babies all under 10months. We did lots of fun exercises, and played on our tummies, and did tummy time on a "mountain", and played on balls, and watched bubbles. Munchkin thought it was all wonderful, and the teacher was really impressed that she stayed awake through the whole thing. She said most babies crash on her their first time.

Munchkin's newest trick is that she doesn't like when you leave her. Not in the stranger-danger sense, it doesn't matter who it is- if you're playing with her and you get up and walk away she fusses at you. If she's distracted then she doesn't care, but today she was in her jumper and I got up and walked off and she yelled at me. haha She likes it when you play with her!

Cognitive and Linguistic Development

That was my 8 week class at the beginning of the semester. This is my example of an infants beginning attempts at imitation. It doesn't actually count as imitation because she did it first, I imitated her and attached meaning (elephant noises), and then she imitated me. Whatever. It's super cute and my baby is a genius.

Guacamole anyone?

So she loved it, then she choked on it, then I gave her the used lime wedge that I sprayed on the other half of the avocado and she loved it. Weirdo.

Yum

Add pizza crust to our list of desired foods. I put it on her tray and she picked it up and put it straight in her mouth. Munchkin gummed it til a chunk broke off and I had to fish it out. Also on our list of likes: pears, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Our dislikes: rice cereal and bananas.

Helping

Look what I can do to help Mommy get ready in the morning. I'll admit it's about 60% a prop job, and she drops it a lot, but I got dressed AND did my hair while she did this.

BOO!

We had a fun Halloween weekend! I made my first apple pie, which turned out to be more of a cobbler than a pie. I made an awesome crust with the help of Pillsbury, so maybe I should say that I cooked an awesome crust. We used the apples that we picked a few weeks ago in the orchard, they were starting to go bad. When we cut into the pie, it was about halfway hollow and full of juice. I think it was just the type of apples I used- they tasted amazing, but not necessarily the best for baking. So a true piece of pie is actually about 1/4 of the pie.

Munchkin helped carve pumpkins. If you enlarge this picture you will see her sick snotty nose- gross. We spent all weekend using the snot sucker and wiping her face- she HATED it. She got to play with some of the big pumpkin chunks that I cut out. I thought for sure she was going to try to eat it, but nope, she wasn't really interested. She picked it up and looked at it but wasn't impressed. She is wearing her candy corn socks that her friend at Mrs. Michelle's brought her. Mrs. Michelle said, "apparently, no one can resist buying your child things!" Lol I concur.
Muchkin's daytime Halloween costume: prospect for the Astro's 2012 team, I think she can do it.
My monkey all dressed up and ready for trick-or-treaters
 Sweet monkey
She LOVED her tutu, she kept trying to eat it, so it was pretty slobbery by the end of the night.
Mister went to work as Hawkeye from MASH. He won first place in their costume contest!
 Love
Lol She got all kinds of ohhs and awes from trick-or-treating parents. She only got scared once, because we were sitting on the porch steps and a little 4yr old knight jumped around the corner and shouted "BOO". Dash was sitting behind the glass door and barked at him and that made Munchkin cry.
She's really interested in grabbing faces these days.
Lady and her monkey. I went as a new mom who took a shower that day. I thought it was a good costume.
Munchkin made it through 2 waves of trick-or-treaters and then she couldn't make it anymore. We fed her, put her to bed, and then took the monitor out to the driveway while we handed out candy from our lawn chairs.
Favorite costume of the night: our neighbor Owen was our first trick-or-treater, and he is about 15ish months now. He was a in a full skunk costume that had a little heart on it that said "little stinker". They had practiced saying "treat", but he got nervous because we were his first house. We laughed a lot about this because one of the handful of words he consistently says well is "Dash".
Hope you all had a good Halloween!
