Spring Break Madness

It's hard to be a stay-at-home Mom. I have a lot of guilt over not enjoying it,  but I just don't. I LOVE going fun places with the Munchkin, and I love doing projects with her, she is a treasure and I know that. I do not enjoy 5 days of 1-on-1 time with my treasure who also happens to be teething AND coming up on the terrible 2s quickly. We have had a good week despite all of that- my house isn't as clean as I dreamed it would be, but whatever.
Mommy breaks down and puts on Pooh to attempt to get some rest time started at a reasonable hour instead of fighting crying for an hour before nap. Yay....
Munchkin enjoys playing "house" and likes to pretend that she lays on the ground and you cover her up and she goes 'night night'. Actual nap time is: diaper, book, music, bed, "no bed, all done bed, no winnie, no blanket, all done" *mommy gives a big kiss and runs out of the room*
Munchkin was studying up on Orangutans before we went to the zoo.
LOVE those pigtails!! Thanks for the bows Nana!
Dash had to get his hair brushed
It's tricky when he keeps giving you kisses!!
Obviously, Dixie needed some love too before we left.
Then we went to the zoo. It was supposed to be in the 60s, but it was still a little chilly when we left. Cool shades, eh?
The baby lions have gotten big!
 Mommy and her precious Munchkin!
Woohoo!!! It's sunny and 60 degrees! Family (and I mean all 5 of us) walk with our shades and princess bunny ears!!!

Whoopie!

We got a whoopie pie maker from Joey and Justin for Christmas and finally got to use it to make snacks for our Life Group tonight. It was awesome. They literally took 2 minutes to cook! Munchkin naturally wanted to help. I haven't gotten the camera out in a while so I popped it out when she got to lick the whisk.

Animals and Letters

First of all, let me say that I am SO bummed. Yesterday it was a gorgeous 60 degrees and today, when we have a super fun neighborhood Easter Egg hunt, it's in the 20s with a bitter wind. Sooo we missed out.

In other news, I told you Munchkin had been learning her letters. so I took a video. It's a little long, but here are all the letters she knows. I'm impressed.

More aweseme news: we're on night #2 without a paci! Hurray! Lady was pretty torn on how to transition her away from having it every time she slept in her room. She didn't have it all throughout the day or naps at school, just in her room. So we stayed out with friends late last night and she just went straight to bed and didn't even ask for it. She asked about it in the morning and I just said, "oh, but it's not time for night night!" Then tonight she was looking for it and I just said, "its not there", she seemed fine with that, and went to bed no problem. Didn't even have to pull a parent lie.....yet!

Marching On

Yikes, it's been a long time since we've blogged. Well February was a little crazy. Mister and I took a week to ourselves and flew to Vegas to celebrate our birthdays and 5yr anniversary. It was the first time  Lady had spent the night away from Munchkin. We all did well. It actually wasn't bad. Gramma and Grandpa did a good job of sending me pictures every day and that was sufficient. Vegas was fun, we walked 5,000,000 miles!!! We came back with more money than we left with for gambling, so that's positive. Saw some cool shows, slept in until 11 every day... it was awesome.

I haven't downloaded all of Gramma's pictures yet so I thought I'd take a second and update you on what my little genius is doing. :)
  1. She can count to 10 with 1:1 correspondence and identify numbers in random order
  2. She knows many of her upper case letters and 11 lower case letters
  3. She generally knows most of her colors but occasionally still gets them all wrong depending on level of attention.
  4. She uses up to 4-5 word sentences.
  5. She throws the most magnificent tantrums on very rare occasion. Including falling face first on the floor, but very carefully. :)
  6. She likes to practice words by whispering them.
  7. She loves to sing and will sing to herself all the time.
  8. She is very independent and likes to do things on her time and her way.
  9. You can really see her thinking through obedience :) This week she told her Daddy, "No Daddy,  You pick up toys" (See #3). She picked up the toys.
  10. We can put a single pony tail in her hair.
  11. She eats meat!!! Sometimes. Yesterday she didn't want to eat her chicken nugget and promptly threw it up... I don't know WHERE she got that!?!?!
  12. Pretend phone calls have expanded from AhHa, but mostly to Grandpa and G-Dad.
  13. She loves to help cook, and always wants to sit on the counter and at least watch
  14. I measured her the other day and she was 32". Grandpa says that the doubling rule is a little harder for girls, but if you double her height right now, she's 2" taller than Mommy. Daddy is so proud.
  15. She knows her full name.
  16. She knows all of the animals in her zoo kit and enjoys playing pretend with her baby.
  17. She loves fashion and all things accessories.
She is so precious and smart and kind. Can't believe my sweet baby girl will be 2 in a few months.
